Role Summary

This position will provide systems administration support for ID card system and security camera hardware and software used by Contractual Services along with other users across campus. 

Examples of Work Performed

  • Assists with office & staff development; conducts user education of systems; coordinates and conducts training for user personnel.
  • Works with relational databases such as Oracle, MS SQL, CBORD, MICROS point of sale, and Avigilion video surveillance. 
  • Programs hardware to interface with University card access system (CBORD).
  • Assists with management of all computer systems, network systems, and software. This includes standardization of hardware and scheduled replacement of all network switches, servers, PCs, and laptops.
  • Creates and maintains reports using Crystal Reports and/or SQL.
  • Develops appropriate documentation and specifications to support the requirements of computerized systems.
  • Works a flexible schedule and provides after hours on-call support.
  • Develops queries to extract, manipulate, and/or calculate information to fulfill data and reporting requirements.
  • Evaluates hardware and software products; recommends, installs, and supports such products. 
  • Provides technical directions, instruction, and supervision as needed for assignments performed by other staff.
  • Enhances and maintains computer systems and associated networks and writes computer programs.
  • Assists with all security matters for systems. 

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Provides multiple levels of support for ensuring proper functioning of the operating system software and its associated components for the University’s academic, administrative, and research based enterprise compute servers.
2. Installs, maintains, and updates the enterprise backup software. 
3. Develops scripts, programs, and tools to assist with system administration functions.
4. Works with application and Help Desk support personnel to resolve system issues. 

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: (3) Three Years Experience
