Department Summary

Willie Price is the preschool/lab school associated with the School of Education. The school serves children ages two through Kindergarten. The staff works closely together to collaborate and provide a developmentally appropriate play based education for the children they teach. Willie Price is accredited by NAEYC and licensed by the Mississippi Department of Health. The school is truly the happiest place on campus and to quote one of our current students, it is "the goodest thing ever!"

Role Summary

Assists with curriculum preparation, classroom facilitation, and student monitoring to ensure safety and foster an environment of learning and development.

  1. Assists pre-school teacher daily. 

  2. Supervises children during play and snack time.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Assists the teacher with classroom activities.

  • Distributes materials, monitors participation, and cleans up after children participate in-group activities.

  • Assists teacher by helping children manipulate materials.

  • Supervises children on the playground to insure that they play safely.

  • Distributes snack materials.

  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Assists with the planning and facilitation of classroom programming and classroom coordination and organization for a early childhood education facility according to established curriculums.
2. Maintains the safety and physical well-being of children in a designated classroom.
3. Updates and organizes individualized and developmental educational plans for children.
4. Assists with basic technical support in labs, classrooms, and distance learning mediums as needed.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: High School or Equivalent

Experience:  (2) Two Years Experience
