Department Summary
Equal Opportunity & Regulatory Compliance is focused on ensuring compliance and access to the University's many programs and offerings. EORC reports jointly to the Provost's office and to the Division of Access, Opportunity and Community Engagement and partners with units across campus to ensure compliance with Title VI, VII, and IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Clery Act, and multiple state and federal laws and regulations related to equal opportunity compliance. The Assistant Director/Title IX Coordinator is a key leader on this team and has opportunities to contribute significantly to the University's access mission.

Role Summary
Manages polices in one or multiple compliance areas, develops and delivers training programs, and creates, distributes and maintains compliance documentation to ensure compliance with institutional policies and/or laws and regulations.
The Title VI Coordinator manages compliance with Title VI and would have a key role in ensuring compliant processes related to how EORC manages complaints and resolution processes. The Title VI Coordinator will also conduct investigations as needed and will supervise any ongoing investigations under the Non-Discrimination and Sexual Harassment Policy. The role would include ensuring relevant training is
delivered to campus partners and students, managing investigations and resolution processes, and ensuring students receive relevant accommodations and supportive measures.
Examples of Work Performed
• Implement and ensure compliance with University policies, procedures, and programs related to Title VI.
• Supervises Title VI discrimination and harassment investigations, reviews draft investigative reports, and provides supportive measures related to Title VI and related civil rights concerns.
• Monitors compliance with all requirements and timelines specified in the University’s Title VI procedures.
• Assists the Director of Equal Opportunity Compliance with matters concerning Title VI, Title VII, and other equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws and policies.
• Serves as the designated individual for reports/complaints of race, color, and national origin discrimination or harassment.
• Acts as a neutral party through all aspects of an investigation and promotes a fair and impartial process for all parties involved.
• Receives and reviews reports related to allegations that may constitute discrimination or harassment based on race, color, or national origin and safeguards confidentiality.
• Notifies all pertinent parties of findings and “next steps,” including the right of appeal or right to pursue remedies outside of university processes.
• Monitors the implementation of recommendations related to substantiated policy violation of discrimination or harassment cases.
• Interviews complainants, respondents, and other witnesses who may have relevant information pertaining to Title VI discrimination complaints.
• Prepares written investigation reports and/or memos for the disposition of complaints as they relate to concerns arising under Title VI, Title VII, or the ADA.
• Serves as a liaison to University stakeholders primarily in matters involving discrimination or harassment based on race, color, or national origin.
• Works collaboratively with various campus offices including, but not limited to, Campus Safety, General Counsel, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Facilities, Athletics, and Human Resources.
• Updates the Director of Equal Opportunity Compliance and AVC/Executive Director on the status of investigations in progress under the Title VI grievance process.
• Oversees the University’s Title VI policies and ensures content is updated to reflect current regulatory requirements.
• Develops, oversees, and coordinates the delivery of campus-wide education, training, and outreach programming for students, faculty, and staff related to Title VI compliance. Maintains documentation of all training and educational programs related to compliance with Title VI.
• Attends and participates in trainings related to discrimination and harassment based on race, color, or national origin, and remains current on developments in civil rights law.
• Oversees, trains, leads, and collaborates with assigned staff and others conducting Title VI or related investigations.
• Coordinates with campus partners and stakeholders to ensure complainants and respondents receive needed support services and resources as appropriate.
• Collaborates with and provides information to relevant University groups, including the Bias Education and Response Team (BERT) and the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) as needed.
• Develops content for a university Title VI webpage.
• Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

4. Creates, disseminates, and maintains required reports and communications in accordance with established laws and regulations.
5. Serves as the subject matter expert and a main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Functions (Title VI Focus):
1. Develops and implements new and revised operational policies and procedures relating to specific compliance laws or regulations in the areas of Title VI and discrimination or harassment based on race, color, and national origin. This includes managing formal and informal resolution processes, accommodations, and supportive measures.
2. Creates and delivers educational materials and trainings to target populations and entities relevant to Title VI compliance.
3. Creates, disseminates, and maintains required reports and communications in accordance with established civil rights laws and regulations.
4. Serves as the subject matter expert and a main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders related to the development, implementation, interpretation, and associated training for Title VI-related policies.
5. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to Title VI, including federal guidance, case law, and best practices.
6. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Experience: (3) Three Years Experience Including Supervisory Experience
An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.
Preferred Qualifications
At least one (1) year of experience working with Title VI or management of other discrimination complaints and compliance processes. Advanced degree (Master's in relevant area, etc.)
