Definition of Class

This position plans, develops, and maintains content for digital platforms including but not limited to websites, e-mails, digital e-newsletters and e-invitations, event postings, and other forms of electronic communications that aligns with UM’s communications and marketing goals. The incumbent coordinates the daily functions of electronic communications, evaluates products and proposals for website and electronic communications, creates processes to optimize brand messaging, and participates in establishing, implementing, and maintaining related policies and processes.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Plans, develops, and maintains applicable institutional websites and electronic communications.
  • Coordinates day-to-day functions of electronic communications including content management, newsletters, e-mails, online calendars and posting and distributing communications.
  • Writes, edits, and optimizes brand and SEO-friendly content for applicable websites and electronic communications.
  • Consults with content contributors and university partners to ensure currency, accuracy and brand consistency.
  • Creates processes to ensure fresh content across sites and optimize brand messaging opportunities.
  • Provides assistance and supports leadership in the planning, design, development, and management of strategic online and electronic communication projects and initiatives.
  • Consults with department and university leadership to develop and execute online and electronic communications strategy.
  • Provides recommendations to inform paid online strategies including but not limited to mobile, search, social, and display.
  • Analyzes and develops reports that communicate insights on applicable websites and electronic communications assets to improve content performance.
  • Supports department leadership in establishing, implementing, and maintaining web governance policies and processes.
  • Evaluates products and proposals for website and electronic communications.
  • Researches, as needed, products and services to enhance UM website and electronic communications.
  • Makes recommendations of product and service needs to department leadership.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field.
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties.
Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
